I have no issues with Yahoo! Mail. It's possible that you've been added to their block list, for whatever reason.

Yeah. I went through that with them a while back. I had a server that was using the email server from another location. They blocked it as spam because the headers didn't match. Many of the big boys also block email from specific sets of IP addresses for no other reason than they know they are assigned to smaller setups and not part of the big 6. You know, the gatekeepr thing and all that.

In 5 years of trying and hundreds of emails, I could never get towtalk.net whitelisted with them. Good luck.

AOL and MSN are just as bad. If it isn't one of their domains, they will block incoming mail anytime they feel the need to cut bandwidth.

To help with any emails, get yourself a Domain Key and have it installed for your account.  This helps let email servers know you have a real email address and it is not spam.  Yahoo recognizes domain key (they invented it) and it made all my emails go from spam to inbox.

OOH, I just read up on that. I would not get involved in that program. Anytime the big boys (like Yahoo) get involved with something like that, you can bet that at some time down the road, they have a plan to use the technology to position themselves better on the net. In other words, make your email servers less viable and have an easier way to weed you out of the flow giving them more control.

It is all gatekeepr technology and should be avoided at all costs. Anytime you support it, you support their bid to become the controlling entity on what you can and cannot access.

Yes, because Yahoo! is a dominant force on the Internet. Also, you're a bit paranoid.

For the love of God, please tell me you could sense my sarcasm. Except for the second part, I was serious there.

Paranoia? ComCast almost got away with it last year. I would recommend you do some reading and get with the times....

Comcast is in a different category from Yahoo!, Google and others. It's not just because I'm aligned with Verizon that I'm against Comcast, I'm aware of the bullshit they've pulled in the past. Still, there's no reason to get overly paranoid.

Still, the fact that they purchased NBC Universal surprised me. I was aware of their intentions to acquire Metro Goldwyn Mayer along with Sony and others, but even that didn't surprise me, as they only did it with the support of other companies. And now I'm rambling...

It depends on how much you really want your emails to get through, I need emails to get through on yahoo and others so I will use it.  That or I can refuse to support them and rail against the fact that my emails go to spam folders for whatever reason they are.  I know of a work-around and I will use the work-around until something else becomes better.

Honestly, I don't have a clue.  I love my host they're like concierges, we tell them what we want and they go and install it for us Laughing But I do know that is what we needed to get through to yahoo accounts.

LOL, For my really cool members, I'll give them a townation.com email address. For all others, I tell them to talk to their ISP's and quit using all the garbage email services out there like yahoo, hotmail, rocketmail, aol and all the others. Remember when AOL used to tell it's people that you can get the AOL internet instead of the other internet? The powers that be had to step in and slap their hands for them trying to make people think there were really two internets.

It's been going on since the inception of the 300 baud modem and pictures on the internet that weren't dot matrix printer created ansi without the color graphics.

Technically, you can have two internets (notice the lack of upper-casing for this example). All you need to do is connect enough servers through an intranet and then allow public access through a service provider to only this intranet. That's what AOL should have done, then they could have ruled the world (muahaha).

I use my own email accounts with my web server, as I prefer having email accounts tied to my domain names. However, I do use a Yahoo! Mail account for more public/personal emails, and I have nothing to complain about with it.

OK OK! I'm gonna hafta agree with you on something so you'll stop posting replies to all my replies..... !!! LOL

I AGREE that it's not a bad idea to have 1 or 2 throw away email addresses around for all those pages you want to sign up to get into but you don't want their spam coming back to your home base....

THERE!
