email-invite-share, not workling. please help

I have seen this several times but have yet to see the answer:

Invite friend, share profile, etc. do not work. the windows pop up, and it says "letter sent" but it doesn't send it.

However, internal emails i.e. admin emails, seem to work fine.

does anyone know why the "external" email functions do not work?

BTW, even when logged in as a user, the don't work.

surely there is a simple fix to this that someone could share.

thank you !!!

The cron jobs were to be done when the site was initially intalled.  Here it is in the install trac:

http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DetailedInstall

Scroll down to setting up Cron Jobs

You also need to create an e-mail account in your cPanel for your site.  You'll need:

postmaster@yourdomain.com

abuse@yourdomain.com

admin@yourdomain.com

As a minimum.  This is to keep your domain in compliance with all the different laws, to handle spam complaints and so on.

Again, thank you for your response. Those cron jobs are already running. My specific problem is the "invite a friend" on the top nav links, "share" on the individual profile pages... "External" emails, if you will. As for system emails and messages from within the admin panel, all is fine.

I don't know what process those functions are trying to use, where to set them, etc. which leaves me with no starting point. Maybe it's a server problem. But, I'm using hostgator, and have not had problems with similar scripts and functions.

I presume "smtp" but, again, I do not know. I have physical mailboxes for my accounts as well.

Are there changes somewhere in the dolphin script I need to make? Or maybe changes at my server? All of whcih I can do, if I can find out the fix.

Thank you very much for your input and help on this.

However, when I request a friend, no emails are sent to the person...Help?
