facebook connect

Hi all.

On the facebook connect I have everything working ok except for the fact that dolphin registers you with just the first part of your name. Ie jim instead of jim hendry. It takes all my other info from my facebook account and inserts that correctly, just have this problem with the first name it rather than full name. Is this a bug or have I done something wrong? The module is no good to me if its just going to add the first name only.

No it's not a bug.

D7 does not support full names as a logon id, so it can only take the first name from facebook.

Hi deano92964

Thanks for the quick response.

Kinda defeats the object of using facebook connect doesnt it? It means that the user then has to go back and edit their account. Change their username, then enter their real name, headline, postcode. I do understand that you can remove anything from the block that you dont require them to fill in but real names and post codes are important on my site.

This whole username/real names is a bad move in my opinon and cant see any reason why we werent given the choice as to how we want it as admin. Personally I prefer to use real names and give username as optional, but v7 doesnt support this. If you dont use a username then no name at all  is displayed in your profile.

I hope boonex change this or someone writes a mod for it as I cant be the only one who wants to use real names.

Thanks for the info anyway.

Jim

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
