hello, is there a way or some widget to categorize the faq like the articles? thanks itz |
Getting a lot of FAQs, huh? I am interested in this too. |
Download it here. ---- |
I can't tell from the screen shots. Does anyone know if this actually categorizes the FAQs? My FAQs are getting loooooong |
I am sorry. It will not categorize it. ---- |
so this just lets you organize the faq from within the admin area instead of the language tab. that's nice, but I need to categorize them, there is nothing available?? That should be standart imho! Am I the first person asking about this? |
Maybe just an idea. I will use the ARticle thing for this. cause im not writing any articles and wont my members let do this. So ill take this as solution. Greets, Jerry |

Very good idea ! Thank you Life is a fatal disease, sexually transmissible - Virginity is carcinogenic! Ask here for vaccine. |
@MichelSwiss your welcome I dont know for what to use Articles im trying to make a dating site, so i dont need this feature and will change it to "help Center", fast easy and for free |
@ jerry79
Me too, I'm trying to run a dating site And I need a good FAQ because some "basic" users are a bit lost while trying to use Dolphin (especially with profile/shared/private/background pictures).
I'm too lazy to write articles but I think that content like articles is good to feed search engines... Life is a fatal disease, sexually transmissible - Virginity is carcinogenic! Ask here for vaccine. |
it should be possible to copy the code for articles, and rename it to something else ('faq' in my case)? Can anyone point me to the right pieces? |
To just duplicate and edit the code will not do the trick... You will also have to "copy" (create) regarding table and fields in your database... Life is a fatal disease, sexually transmissible - Virginity is carcinogenic! Ask here for vaccine. |
yes; thank you, that's exactly what I want to do... do you know where I can I find the parts to that specific function? |
Hi, im looking for a free FAQ system. Then ill try to imgrate this via iframe. But for me its not so easy, cause i need a good system which i can translate into german. So this could take a while. I found a good one before, but have to look where i store the link....grrrr.... If im finished with that or know where to start, ill let you know. Cause it seems that a lot of guys are looking for something like this. Greets, Jerry |
yeah, I am surprised it's not integrated already! Most sites have other content that needs faq other than this community function. In my case, this is only a small part of the site. However, I don't want to deal with importing frames, for just a faq page... So, to save me some time, can anyone point me to the pieces? Or, do I have to sift through this code myself?, do I have to pay someone to tell me? How does this work here? |
I don't know if anyone is interested, I have done a Categorized version of the simple FAQ mod, have a look at my Fcuk Buddies site for Demo.
If you are interested send me a message or reply here, I will send it for free of course. |
I did a little searching, and found this: . http://www.it747.com/faq757/index.php?page=download_system . It's free as long as you leave the copyright notice intact. It won't be integrated into Dolphin so that you can use the same Dolphin admin login, but I don't think it really matters... so what if you have a separate admin login to enter knowledge base information. Users can post comments which the admin will have to approve before they are posted. I think it's a nicely done script. I had this installed on the server in about 10 minutes, and 5 more minutes to build a Dolphin page. The price is $49 US if you want to remove copyrights. I think it's a great deal. . You can have a look at what I've done here: http://astrosturf.com/support.php (This is just a do-nothing site that I'm using for a little experimentation) . I've only played around wiith this script for a short time, but I like it already.
Here are the features as listed on the developers website: .

Ok I have now added SEARCH to the Categorized FAQ Script. Check it out http://www.fcukbuddies.com/faq.php I will provide download link to anyone who wants it. |
Nice job Lancashire - by the way, you mispelled f... - Rob |
I added the TinyMCE editor to the FAQ script I mentioned my post above. Since the tinyMCE editor in this application will only be available to the admin, you can freely, and easily, embed videos from youtube and any other site. TinyMCE includes a Media plugin that makes it really easy to add media to your knowledge base posts. . If you really want to get fancy, visit this site: http://www.jingproject.com/ Jing is an open source program that runs on your PC, which you can use to create SWF movies of what is happening on your computer screen. Jing is a great way to create video tutorials. Once you have created the swf tutorial, you can upload it to your site and embed it in your knowledge base.
