Hi guys, I just installed orca forum,
The thing is that "foum posts" block in forums home showing loading button with a circle - but its still loading and nothing is loaded. The second thing is the "L" brackets. I know this is old theme - if I compile english language that in english text is fine but I have second language and if I click on compile ( in forum view) I got message " Language compilation faild check permissions" I checked permissions but its fine - 755 folders 644 files.
Can somebody gimme a hand with those two problems ?
thanks in advance

does somebody experienced same prob ? |
I have experienced a similer issue after i moved my site to another server compiling my custom templates.
I have not yet found the cause of it though.
But the folders are supposed to be 777 not that it will make much of a difference. It just the mode dolphin instructions always recommend. https://www.deanbassett.com |
I have a working forum, but can't compile any language. On the same server I have 7 other sites D6 working without any problem. I have try it with the standard theme: result not working. So what this is I have no clue at all. Kids first |
For the spinning circle, check your root php.ini file and see if allow_url_fopen= On exists in it. If not, add it, if you do not have one, create a php.ini file in notepad and add:
allow_url_fopen= On
and upload it to the root of your Dolphin install. In some cases, I have seen where this also needed be added it the /modules/boonex directory as well (depending on your host configuration)
You can also look here: http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/topic/Troubleshooting-Ads-License-Permalinks-Forums.htm
I have touched these topics there as well.

Nothing to see here |
Thanks Zarcon, but for me this is all not working.
I can compile from admin/modules and it give on thats its compiled. But no thus. If I try it from admin/orca I got in firefox : check permissions. in Opera: nothing
I have done this from the UNI template. The forum is working very well So i have to get this shit on the [[ links ]] I have no idea further. Kids first |
Hi Zercon ... Thansk for tips. Unfortunately its still not working. I checked php.ini and I have url fopen=on so its okay . I copied php.ini also to dolphin root and to forum root but problem still there - post block dont loading.
Regarding L - compilation problem i tried set forum folder to 777 but than its not load profile at all, so switched back to 755, strange english language compile without problem. I did a small test I deleted both translated files cz.php on both forum language locations. Now I just renamed en.php to cz.php but not translate anything, now tested .... both language files en.pgp and fake cz.php compiled properly - There have to be something wrong when I translate - Is possible that if for example some translation text is more longer than original string that it can cause this ? Or maybe those problems are all related to some bugs in D7 ? I have same problem with ads module where it gives me parse error in cz.php. I checked file line by line and compared to en.php and its correct - only difference are translated strings........
Im totaly lost with problem with post block not loading ...dont know what more can I try ?
Jopefully some mod will give me some advice ?
thanks in advance

Well in your case, which i have not confirmed, but it should not make a difference, it may be some of the accented characters may need to be escaped.
However i have not tried this myself, so i don't know. It should not be a issue unless your database encoding is wrong. I am at a loss on this one also.

hmmmm can somebody confirm tha some of special language like ÁÍÉŘĚŘŠĎŽŠÚěščřžýáíéůú will cause language compile on forum and ads errors ? |
I tried open forum now in firefox instead of IE8. In firefox I got error and forum not open at all .This is error in forefox:
Warning: require_once(/home/XXX/public_html/XXX.cz/modules/boonex/forum/layout/ver/params.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/XXX/public_html/XXX.cz/modules/boonex/forum/integrations/base/config.php on line 96
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/XXX/public_html/XXX.cz/modules/boonex/forum/layout/ver/params.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/home/XXX/public_html/XXX.cz/plugins/phpids/') in /home/XXX/public_html/XXX.cz/modules/boonex/forum/integrations/base/config.php on line 96
Maybe this is problem why forums post block not loading ? Doeas somebody know what this error mean ?
XXX is my subsittution to hide my site...

Are you running a custom template? The error means that it cannot find params.php in modules/boonex/forum/layout/ver/
Only template layout info is to be in modules/boonex/forum/layout/ directory which means your site thinks there is a template called ver that does not have a forum layout folder.

Until the lang is compiled, the block won't load. This is common and should correct itself once the lang gets compiled.
Verify permissions on the following folders in modules/boonex/forum . Each should be mode 777
classes conf layout log js cachejs
Also, in the layout directory, are there any folders with a _en on the end. If there are, make a backup and remove them. Then try compiling again.
Before doing any of this, make sure the default template is set to the default UNI template.

I have been heavy testing whole night and found following:
1) I uninstalled and reinstalled all modules, uninstalled another languages and left default english files only - Now everything is working correctly - even forum post block is working fine. This probably means all problems I got are somehow connected to another language files - I really checked critical language files I got issue with - forum mod and ads mod. TRanslated files are saved with correct language code, they are saved in utf8, checkd by phpedit for correct syntax and compared manually line by line with default eng.php. I really can find any difference (apart of translated strings) of translated files in comparsion with defualt eng.php. There prolly have to be some bug or dont know......
I also find out most modules dont uninstall properly when i choose unistall in admin. Some of modules are still there with decompiled language.Example - I uninstalled polls, now I suppose polls simply will be NOT in admin and in frontend - but there is still poll - only difference now text in polls is now decompiled bx_polls instead of polls, same with blogs articles. WHen I uninstall sound, video, files, photos, than I got error and site doesnt load at all. Does somebody else experiencing problems with uninstalling modules ?

Wel I have done everything now, but there was nothing changed. Nor in Firefox or Opera. I give up!! I don't want hartattack for this shit Kids first |
Killerhaai: Im very close to heartattack too :-) I spent like last 3 weeks 15 hours a day on setting up dolphin and still have issues so Im very close to give up too. I see u are premium member - I thought it include support directly from developers or not ?
devs: can u please confirm thare are issues with another languages which cause my problems or its related to something else. Also I would like to know if the thing that modules doesnt uninstall completely is a known bug or if its only my side related ?

There are problems with other languages, because when i use the UNI template, the Englisch laguage file compiled, but dutch file not. | but also the theme has to do something with it. In uni In can see the forum without the [[xx]] but only in Firefox. Go I back to my custom theme then all [[xx]] are back. I have the custom theme file in layout for every language.
When I use Opera, than I sse [[xx]] in every template (uni and skin002)
base base_en uni uni_en uni_nl skin002 skin002_en skin002_nl Kids first |
I just recently found out that any language file that contains non latin characters must be saved in utf-8 encoding. Some text editors do not have a file encoding option when saving.
The editor i use EditPlus does. And i suspect Notepad++ might as well.

Oke now in uni template the englisch is compiling, but not the dutch (failed) and in theme skin200 its not working at all. So there is something with the theme to. Kids first |
I use php edit which also checking file for errors and I saving files in utf 8 from beginning bit still my language gimme compile error :-( english is working fine.. |
