how run ffmpeg and set cron on hostgator shared ?

Hi guys, I have problems with procession video on d7. I have been recommended by hostgator to use

"php -f /home/user/www/periodic/cron.php" in cronjob but dont know if its okay. Also - I know officially ffmpeg is not supported on hostgator shared accounts but as I know many people actually use ffmpeg on hostgator without problem. Can somebody who run d7 on hostgator sharef acc. share your settings with me or gimme some tips ?

thanks in advance

I dealt with gator and could never get version 6 to run right on their servers. BEST thing I did was go to another web hosting company that specifically supports dophin and rms on shared hosting, and in the end it turned out to be cheaper than gator hosting. Save yourself the head ache and time and switch hosting companies..that would be my advise to you..

Yes I know what u are talking about  I spent heaps of time finetuning all php settings and it still dont work 100% correctly  - the thing is Im not really sure what is caused by server config and what is caused by d7 bugs itself :-) so that the thing. Anyway... Im already thinking about switch to some host that support all features but I dont have money to pay for vps or dedicated - would u recommend me something ?

ps. I have been chatting in recent past with some people who claims they actually running d7 fine on gator shared, including ffmpeg - they only use external rms.... - If somebody have some info on this here ?

just been chatting with gator support. They saying that on gator shared cron cant be set to run every minute (*****). Minimum interval is every 15 minutes. Will it work if cron is now set to run every 15 minutes instead of boonex recommended every minute ?

I set following cron command - gator support told me I should use this:

php -f /home/user/www/periodic/cron.php

yes
let's say when you upload a video now you have to wait 15min for the video to be processed

now when cron is ran - I got email from cron - "no input file specified" altrought there are files in "not processed" in dolphin-video admin Does I have to do something more to put file to cron queue ?

I finally get cron working - I forgott one folder in cron path :-) ... now its all working - video can be uploaded, played, processing is fine, audio uploads, play, processing, recording works well too. Only problem in this area now I have with video-comments - it record fine, but than it says processing forever - I thought now when audio/video uploads, aply and processing is working fine that video uploads will be fine too but its not. Does u have an idea why video coments not work? Im using joombyte rms and I have both ports enabled...Actually i got email from cron that seems that comment has been processed ( im not sure - too many lines of text I dont understand), but in frontend it still says processing
