I need to transfer my d7 site to another folder. What do I do? This sentance says nothing, and its possibly spellt wrong. |
what control panel are you on? if cpanel then its very easy, select the files to move then with the files all having a check in the box to the left of the file name, look in the toolbar and click move, it will then ask for a path of where you want to move them. provide the path where you want to move the files and click ok or next. also in moving the site you will need to edit he /inc/header.inc.php file changing the path to the dolphin installation. Your my savior Dosdawg. Very clear and detailed with no sarcasm. I appreciate that. And yes, im on cpanel. I actually figured this is how its done, but I had a storm of troubles after with no video or pics, plus none of the modules moved over. I used softaculous to upload d7 (named d7migrate) and put it within the directory of mysite.com.(mysite.com/d7migrate.) The migration was smooth, complete, and fully functioning. So I clicked it, moved it up a level next to the original d6 (mysite.com,) renamed d7migrate to mysite.com and changed the inc/header thing. Thats when everything but the home page would give me "file not found." I noticed within the description of the file not found, it was still looking for the original d7migrate..... I figure I went wrong somewhere, so im gonna do it over and see what happens. You have any suggestions? This sentance says nothing, and its possibly spellt wrong. |

You have any suggestions? yes, you most likely entered the file manager without specifying to show 'hidden' files, hidden files are such as .htaccess. so when you made your move, your htaccess didnt go with you. no sweat, move it manually. as for images and all other, you need to clear the cache, if you clear the cache, all will be well. if you make an attempt to clear the cache from administration panel, and things you can go to cpanel --> file manager --> showing hidden files going in there are two directories one of which has an .htaccess that needs to remain, that is the cache directory. using the tools available on cpanel file manager, select all unticking the .htaccess file, then remove all files in the cache directory, do the same thing for cache_public this should get you back on track.
