This is a problem that many will have when installing new (and especially FREE) templates.

This is what I did to avoid problems.

I saved a copy of the folder tmpl_uni (from templates) in my computer before I load any new templates.

Then if I get that lovely error message - I open up my FTP account again - delete the offending template folder, then rename my copy of tmpl_uni that is on my computer to the name of the offending template.

Then I can get into my admin to select a different template so that I have a working site while I deal with the bugs in the new template.

Hope that helps someone out there in the future!
