installing d7b8 from d7b6 help?

i'm not sure what I am doing wrong..

1: i copied all the files from D7B8 to the htdocs directory

2:went to my website

3:it says remove the install directory..

4:seems to work but want to be sure?

Do I install this from scratch...

then run mysql administrator and install the old sql file (dump) from d7b6 to d7b8?

or is there another process to do this installation to get the old data to work with the new beta 8?

We don't know if this will work - you will have to tell us.  Install from scratch, but then immediately do a full content and structure backup.   After that, try your restore from your d7b6 backup file.  I would do it from the Dolphin control panel and not from the mysql administrator, but that is your call.  If it doesn't work, in theory, you could go back to the original d8 backup file and at least not lose your install.  That would give you a chance to try a different approach - like restoring individual tables.   Please let us know what happens.

Good luck

great. if that's the only way to update beta 6 to beta 8 i can't do it...

using the database backup on b6 gives me mysql errors and does not backup.. so i can not restore it...

further more.. using the existing database with b8 will not even let you log into your account.. even though it seems as if it is running smoothly by veiwing the website holding the htdoc data for beta 8...

I am at a loss.. ergh.
