limit status message word count

Is there a way to limit the number of words or letters someone can enter into the status message? Because someone just entered a full 1000 word blog into their status message which then went straight onto the timeline. I am sure there must be a way to prevent this I just can't find it. Otherwise i'll have to remove status message completely

I have searched and can't find this topic, I can find how to delete the status message but not how to limit the word count. If you have seen such a topic please do direct me :)

First of all, the limit of characters is already in the status thingy.  Someone created a mod to tell the user how close they were to the end.  There was an issue if someone went to the limit, they could not edit in the status box but could use the member menu bar to edit.

As for searching, try using an outside search engine on the boonex.com domain.

how can the word count already be in the status thingy when someone was able to post an entire blog into it? This doesn't make sense

There is a limit on the display unless you made changes to it.  Why would someone post a blog in a status message?

Why would someone post a blog in a status message?

 My guess would be spammers.
