This was a bug that (I believe) was fixed. If not, here's an unofficial fix that works just fine. I'll look for the ticket now. In the mean time: http://www.boonex.com/unity/extensions/entry/Delete_Message_Fix.

And here's the ticket: http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/ticket/988. I'll look for the actual fixes for you. Alternatively, you can just apply the fix above.

Edit: The fix seems to be an updated query from the installation's SQL file. I can't really figure out how to make it into a usable query, so you may want to either have a look yourself, apply the above fix, or wait for Dolphin 7.0.3 (which is already in beta and will be released soon).

This modification was written for Dolphin 7.0.0, but should work with 7.0.1 and 7.0.2.

If there there isn't an empty function in the trash, then either it wasn't installed right or (possibly) the modification no longer works in the latest stable release. Try sending the author a message, as he should know.

Edit: I'm not sure if it does, but if the modification requires a database edit, then you also need to clear the cache directories.
