mbstring on VPS

Hi,

I'm installing Dolphin 7.0, and I get "mbstring extension not installed. Warning! Dolphin cannot work without mbstring extension" .  I have read about the php mbstring extension, however I have multiple domains on one VPS.  Because I have a central php.ini file, I don't know if enabling mbstring will mess up any other domain.  Is there a way to isolate mbstring for use on only one website on a VPS?

Thanks.

It should not effect the other sites.

For most systems it just a matter of installing the support.

Like yum install php-mbstring

It's just an extension to php. It adds extra functions to php.

I may be asking the wrong people, but is there any way to have a php.ini file a part of 1 website on the situations above so i can have mbstring not configured in the rest of the sites, but configured in one?

also, I think mbstring is installed, it's just not enabled.  If I uncomment it, does it only work on the sites that have it in apache?

This is entirely possible, but I am not too familiar on how to go about it (the separate php.ini files).

Your host would be the best person to talk about concerning this issue.

Allow me to correct myself: if you are on a VPS or Dedicated server, than you can do this. But if you are on a shared environment, you are at the mercy of your host's way of doing php.ini files.
