members online

Hello,

Is there anyway to make it look like you have more members online? Right now I have over 800 members on our site and I only have no more than 4 members online at one time.  I would like it to appear that I have more members online to make the site appear busier than it is. That way I feel it would make more people stay online.

I suppose you could remove the actual online count and rename the random members tab to 'online' so every time they click it different members will show up? Their avatar won't show with the little yellow online 'light' though. But it's a simple idea to get the general effect I guess? Either that, or get some more members :)

Yes there are modules in the Market that would do that, however, why would you want to make it look like you have members logged in when they are not?

Suppose I was a member of your site and saw 50 people online but when I try to IM them or communicate to them, they never answer me... I would think I was getting ignored. If this happened to me too many times, I would just stop trying and probably refrain from coming back to your site anytime soon. Its misleading if you ask me, but thats my personal opinion. If you really want something like this, just check the market..
