members photo's not showing

Hi I just installed and created a user account to test with. When I uploaded a pic. in the profile settings it seemed to go through ok but there is none showing on profile or front page. Just wondering is there maybe a setting that is blocking this? Could this be a problem because of my .inc folder permisions not being set right?
