membership/subscription questions

We have several questions.  I will need to go into some detail.  First, BoonEx advertises the following for Dolphin7:

  • Create multiple membership levels with configurable access parameters.
  • Set different access levels to all parts of your community site, including specific pages and even page blocks.
  • Charge membership fees and integrate with different payment providers.

We've figured out how to do the first bulleted item under Admin/Settings/Membership Levels, but we have no idea on how to go about doing the other two items.  Can someone give us directions or point us to a good source for getting the information?

Secondly, we've created a Premium membership level, (which, by the way, is the one we want people to pay to join), but how do we make it available alongside the free Standard membership level  to the community so they can choose between the two levels immediately upon joining or upgrade anytime they want from their current Standard membership level to the Premium level?

Thirdly, is there a way that we can make membership automatically include subscription to our newsletter without requiring members to fill out a separate subscription menu?  That is, subscription to our newsletter is one of the built-in benefits of membership, and we'd make that perfectly clear on the signup page.

Fourthly, is there a way to add additional privileges/benefits to a particular membership level over and above Dolphin7's built-in ones and make those available only upon joining that level?  We want to make certain additional privileges/benefits available to the Standard membership level and also certain other ones available only to the Premium membership level.  Specifically, for the Standard level, we want to give them a one-time10% discount from our off-site eStore and offer them 15-minute consultations with our resident expert at $50 a session.  I'm a novice at all this, but I assume that what we need is two blocks strategically placed on all the community pages for Standard members which advertise these benefits with a link to our eStore for the one and a link to Simplifythis.com scheduling software for the other.  Premium members have the same types of extra benefits, but they get an on-going 10% discount at the eStore and 50% off on each session with our expert.

I know this is a lot of information I'm asking for.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Eric

PS  Our brand new community site under construction is: pregnancyandbirthconnection.com.  Please stop by and take a look to get a better understanding of who we are and what we're about.  Also, I've attached a Word document that is a landing page advertising our community site and its benefits to both Standard and Premium members.

your members will have to join as standard and then upgrade to premium. Our site has several membership levels, and you can set all levels to have different options for your site. Check us and our membership levels out at http://www.globaldancenetwork.com

I think most of what you want is possible, but we are busy this week because we launch at the weekend...

i would look at a few modules in the market, because as a default install some of these functions are not available.

anton - profile splitter (can get this customized to your site)

martinboi - subscriptions module

also somewhere i seen a mod that required payment to join.

discounts, you would most likely need to create some graphic, assign that graphic an affiliateID, setting up the discount on your cart, and having the communmity member enter in the coupon code.

permissions and access above and beyond

this is a loaded question. im going to state NO, initially, reason being, not really sure what the inquiry here is. dolphin comes with 37 modules i believe it is. when you install 3rd party modules, they should also have entries in the ACL table. this allows to grant/deny/promote certain features and functions of the site to a specified membership level.

so when you state outside dolphin, i am concerned that you are asking something that is not answerable here, nor controllable by dolphin.
