modules install

Ok i have dolphin 7 up and running now.  I tried to turn on some modules and it fails though.  The one i was trying was the avatar module.  dolphin said it installed correctly.  I go to my home page and try to click the avater link and i get a 404 error

http://mysite.com/m/avatar/

is the page that 404's.  It's definatly not there if i look in my site directory.  is the module install supposed to create this and copy stuff to it or do i need to do something manual?

Thanks!

Sound like your servers mod_rewrite is not operational, or the .htaccess file in the root of the dolphin folder is missing.

Are the profiles displaying?  If not then Dean has nailed this one dead on.  Check for your .htaccess in the Dolphin Root, if it's there then check your php.ini settings and make sure mod_rewrite is on.

hmm that's it then, profiles wont' load either.  I turned permalinks off so profiles work now, but i'm running on iis so i have to figure a way to do the mod_rewrite for iis.

Thanks for the info!

Seeing as how .htaccess is for Apache and you are using IIS, I imagine that may be why you are having so many issues. This script was written for Apache, not IIS. I'd recommend you look-up as much information as you can on converting anything needed to function correctly.

That's perhaps the smartest thing I've seen posted on this forum all day. You deserve a gold medal.
