new member login not working, help needed please

Hi all

Got a serious problem with a new D7.2 site

new members are unable to login after joining and having their accounts activated.

Attempts to login return: "Incorrect username or password"

Have tried to set up a second account for myself using different email account and user name and get the same message.

Have removed the requirement of member activation by admin and problem still persists.

I'm also getting ALOT of spam accounts over the last couple of days.

Was hoping the site would go live this week :)

If anyone wishes to try and replicate the problem please be my guest.

TIA

Hi

I just joined.

The first time I tried there was no ' captcha' block and I could go no further with the joining process
it seemed to be on a loop when I pressed join - and no email was received.

The second time I tried the 'captcha' block was there and the join process went through OK

I received an email asking me to confirm my email address - which I did.

I then logged in with no problem.

I hope this helps.

P.S you can remove me now if you wish - my user name was Nobby

Perhaps it was bad cache? That can sometimes cause problems like this.

I empty the cache after every action now Nathan, that's something i learned very early on, still no idea what it was but i've joined with another account on another device without problem so fingers crossed, i don't want to be left with egg on my face if the ads go out and people can't join ;)
