new profile field not showing in some views

I added full_name as the new profile view and it shows up to be edited for admin and owner but though it is also in the member profiles, it does not show up for members looking at each other profiles.  I checked the database and it is set right.  Is this unusual or could I have edited something to make this not work?  I have made some changes in the files.
