open_basedir

Requirements listed for Dolphin 7 include "open_basedir should be off".  This is a problem for me as the host I work with has it on by default.

However, I notice in the requirements list (in the same paragraph) it lists some other things as "must be" not "should be" (e.g. register_globals must be off) ... so my question is, is there a difference between should be and must be? Is the open_basedir issue actually a recommendation rather than a requirement?

I hope so as this could be a deal breaker on D7 for me and a bunch of other people. Open_basedir is pretty widely used by hosts from my experience.

Thanks,

Kevin

From personal experience and posts i have seen here in the past, open_basedir does need to be empty. If it contains anything, it usally always causes problems with dolphin.

So i think they meant to say "must be"

But there really is only one way to know if it's going to cause a problem. And that is to try it.
