permission issues

Hey you guys im a noob, and here for some direction. My hosting is with hostgator and I uploaded all the files appropriate to run Dolphin. However hostgator is telling me there server doesn't support the 777 permission and i needed to upgrade to a dedicated server to be able to set the permissions to 777. Hostgator also advised me use 755 & 644 for the permission setting but I told them its set to that by default and is not letting me install the program correctly then they told me to contact boonex so im here for some direction.

I had a lot of server problems, security issues and what not on my prior hosting.  Had to go somewhere where Dolphins can swim freely and roam, stretch ther fins so to speak.  Give DosDawg a yell, I am sure he can provide a place for your Dolphins to swim and play.
