photos uploading on side

For some reason the photos being uploaded onto my site have started being uploaded on their side. This only started yesterday I have no idea why this would start happening as I have not done anything to make this happen. What might cause photos to be uploaded with the wrong orientation? The picture on my pc is the right way up, but once its uploaded to my site its on its side. Is there something I should check/unchecked to fix this?

what is GD library?

My guess is photos taken with something like a telephone where people don't understand to rotate their phones before taking a photo.  This has been discussed on the forums before.

nope its my picture that I use for testing and its been uploaded lots of times. All the pictures as from today are uploading upside down I asked my sever host about GD library and he said this

Hello Voni,

I have just checked the Apache build on the server and it has not been rebuilt recently. GD is also availble and has not been changed.

so it must be something else. I just don't know what.

what is GD library?

The GD Graphics Library is a graphics software library by Thomas Boutell and others for dynamically manipulating images. Its native programming language is ANSI C, but it has interfaces for many other programming languages. It can create GIFs, JPEGs, PNGs, and WBMPs. Support for drawing GIFs was dropped in 1999 when Unisys revoked the royalty-free license granted to non-commercial software projects for the LZW compression method used by GIFs. When the Unisys patent expired worldwide on July 7, 2004, GIF support was subsequently re-enabled.

GD originally stood for "GIF Draw". However, since the revoking of the Unisys license, it has informally stood for "Graphics Draw".

Did you add any modules or codes that deals with photos?  Make any changes anywhere prior to this happening?

Looking at the second photo, it is in portrait mode; or appears to be.  Did you take that photo with a regular camera and not a telephone?

Well then, must be Dolphin.  Is this a photograph taken with a regular camera, not a camera built into a telephone?

This is interesting.  Evidently some configuration file must have become corrupted?  Would be nice to know which.  Rebooting the server would have flush current configs and reload them; did you play around with any of the configuration files?
