So from my viewpoint they look VERY similar, what are some of the main differences in between the two? My site is VERY focused on musicians so music ans easy video upload are a must and I'm not being a downer it just looks like phpmotion does that a bit better than dolphin. Please everyone understand I love my dolphin , but I have yet to find a theme/plugins that will fit all my needs without going broke. |

Well.. Honestly? Since I do have a phpMotion account AND have attempted to try and consider replacing my Dolphin site, I would say don't even think about it. Not that phpMotion is just horrible, it's just that it cannot do the things Dolphin does. For example, You can only upload a max of 3 photos at a time with NO WAY to change this. Their 'modules' a far and few between and also somewhat expensive. To find a good template is no less than $100 (go ahead and check it out). The backend is not even close to being like Dolphin. No way to 'customize' pages or the layout of content. Its OK if you want a basic site that will not have too much member interaction and you are satisfied with it's basic functions.
Bottom line is this, you have to spend money in order to get ANY website the way you want it. I had a phpMotion site for a week before I made the decision that I would not substitute Dolphin with phpMotion.

Perfect that is exactly what I wanted to know! Glad I asked I have one site on dolphin and was about to launch two more and needed some input.
One last question though fellas. I bought this theme

How did he do the videos? I see nothing in my back end that allows me to put those blocks on the homepage. Am I just missing something here?
Any ideas? Do I need to buy a mod to do that?

If you're referring to the video player, it must be a custom one he or she embedded into a HTML block.

No no no I meant the public videos, and the public sounds and so on below that. |
Those show up be default once public videos, photos. and music are uploaded to the site. They way they 'look' is due to the template the person is using, but all dolphin sites have the ability to show these media types on the homepage.
If you have these media types uploaded to your site and you do not see them, go to your Admin Panel > Builders> Page Blocks and choose homepage from the drop down menu. Look in the Inactive items and see if you see the Public Videos, Public Photos, and Public Music blocks. Drag them to Active Items where ever you want them to display at.
