registering of "spam" users with strange names ...

Since a few days always new users with strange names and descriptions are registered. I don't know if these are bots or something else. The ReCaptcha at the registration is enabled and works so far I think.

Here is a snapshot from the user-database, maybe someone can see something I didn't recognized.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be or is this problem with bot-registration already known?

Is there an alternative captcha system I can use with Dolphin?

When deleted, they appear after a while (hour / days) again:

ReCaptcha is already the toughest of all the captchas and is most likely working as intended.  The problem is spammers outsource people in third-world countries to intercept and enter captcha info while their spam bots are signing up and creating the accounts.  I don't know there's much that can be done about it yet; even blocking the IP addresses won't help as generally they rotate through proxies.

Actually, ReCaptcha is broken and has been broken for some time; this may not be well known but do some searches and you will see.  In order for any type of Captcha to be effective, it must be impossible, and I mean impossible, for a human to read and thus makes it impossible for anyone to register.  I am seeing spam registrations similar to what you have and from the data entered, it is clearly a bot doing the registrations.  On my site they are targeting the description box for profiles.

The solution; or at least for me; will be to remove ReCaptcha and put in more effective turing tests that a person can read but makes it much harder for a bot to get pass.

You need a human question field.
