remove dating-stuff?

I just installed the newest dolphin version to test it out. now i regognized that it is a dating platform. What i want to do is a social knowledge network/community. users can mention their interests and their knowledge and other users can contact them when they have a problem/question.

is it possible to "delete" stuff like registration-questions (single/couple, interrested in male/female ...) short: every dating-stuff?

Yes you can remove several things, to do this into admin centre - builders - fields-builder. All blocks you don't need, get them to the non active area.

Yes, it can be done - there are about 10 mods you will need to do to make it work though.  Search on "remove age and sex" to start.  It might be easier at this point though to just wait until version 7, where I assume (hope) this will be easier.

There are 20 main functions to Dolphin per say. How you identify/scale those functions will be the difference between Dating and Community. Although Dolphin was designed orginally as a dating script D5.3 as of D6 it went more towards general community. D7 improves upon that concept greatly and I am sure D8 will be the ULTIMATE in Smart Community Building.

But Dolphin in its core state is to allow the Community Builder an Option. Which Option you take your Dolphin is up to you :)

I've just been removing the dating stuff from two sites and I wish I'd documented all the steps for future reference and to post here. If/when I do it again I will.

I recall the main things are

1. switch off some of the 'enables' in Advanced Settings (such as 'Show zodiac signs' and 'Enable cupid mails' etc, 'Enable search by ZIP codes' further down)
   
2. modify the Join form in Fields Builder. I removed 'Looking for' 'Couple' and 'Zip'. One drawback is that if you remove the 'DateofBirth' block, no members will show up on the member searches!

I'd like to buidl up a community like wengophone was ... so i don't need zodiac, gender, ....

its very easy in version 7... you uncheck a few boxes and then remove the fields from the nav bar and the search profiles
