required age to join forum

Ok, this is a good one. Probably been said and done before but seaching the forums on age data doesn't seem to reveal any posts on this particular issue.

Preferably, with regard to age, date of birth and all that I'd just as soon do away and all references/requirements with it entirely in regard to the script. I am trying to use the script to develop an online community for a clients organization where the age/date of birth thing is more annoying than anything and simply not required.

A lot of the users were simply typeing 0/00/0000 as their date of birth and we know where that leads. So I applied the workaround to make it simply ask for age that is a little more palatable.

However, here is the issue. I went into advanced settings where their are two fields one for minimum age and one for maximum and I changed those to 0 and 100 respectively. Now I am beginning to wonder as to the actual value of those fields as "advanced settings" when you go to a user account say to modify their terms and they are less than 18 or more than 75 of age it will lock and say they have to be at least 18 or less than 75, and of course, same if they try to sign up at lesser or higher age than the 18-75.

Anyone have any answers on that?

If I could get rid of the 18-75 requirement then maybe, just maybe I could modify the field to have nothing at all to do with "age" but perhaps age of business or number of years in business, much better for this particular community need.

Have you check the database Profiel fiels table look at cell birth of Date, if there are the right age settings... I know this was for version 6.1.x mostley a problem.  For version 6.1.4 this was corrected.
