I notice that I already have reset all the settings for the 3rd time on a new Dolphin 7.0.6 install. This is rather difficult for me to work with ...
Does anybody has an explanation for this, or rather a solution?
Thanks

this goes for almost everything by the way ... avatars, system settings, even wall posts seem to be disappearing.
Please help? |
Sometimes the caching system in Dolphin is not so friendly. Try going into your Admin Panel > settings>> advanced settings> other and remove the checkmarks (if any) from the DB Cache, Page Block Cache
Also remove the caching from your template: Admin panel>settings>advanced settings> templates and remove check mark (if any) from CSS chace, JS cache, and compression for JS/CSS.
Clear cache from /cache (except for .htaccess) and /cache_public directories.
Then try again. Nothing to see here |
thanks Zarcon! You've been very helpful. This worked like a charm. I'm a bit afraid though that disabling the cache will overload my server? It's now set to the 'file' cache system, should I use a cache, if so, which would be the best option?
Thanks :) |
Depends on the hosting environment you have. If you are on Shared Hosting, you probably will not be able to use anything but FILE anyway.
As for caching.. I would leave DB and Page Block Caching off. If anything, you can re-enable these template caches:
CSS JS HTML
You should not have any issues with server overloads with these settings. Key word 'Shouldnt' (I havent anyway) Nothing to see here |
Dear Zarcon, Thank you very much! I'm using a dedicated server (dualcore 3.6ghz, 2GB Ram, 2GB virt mem, 160GB HDD, 100Mbit uplink). In case of heavy server loads (and increase of income) I'll be placing some extra servers. It's very important that the server keeps running fast ...
Thanks again :) |
^^ During the time we've been communicating, all site settings have replaced themselves again. All settings in advanced and basic settings are back to normal (including cache settings I disabled) and the avatars, ... :'( ------------ EDIT Never mind, I had to refresh the settings pages :s :$ sorry ;)
