sharing members on different communities

Hi all,

Lets assume I have 2 (or 3) different Dolphin communities on different domain names.

Is there any way to share members with all my communities, thus if someone is member of community 1, he will automatically be member (with same membership level) of all my other comunities ?

Then, if this is possible, what if I run one of my communities under dolphin 6 and another under Dolphin 7 ... still possible ?

See, if this is possible, this can be a way to make ccbill and, other payment ways, work "indirectly" with dolphin 7 ;o).

Thanks for your suggestions.

Eric.

It would be incredibly cool - but I don't think the technology is there yet.  There is a thread around here someplace where people were working on this, and some came pretty close, but I think it is a ways off.  I can sort of visualize a system where people would have a "home" community, but the different sites on different domains would then share profile fields.  As you did a search, one of the fields would be  a link to the home profile - even if it was on a different site - and you could exchange messages with that user, etc.   I tend to think that something like this will be the only way to "break" the monopolies of some of the really huge sites - i.e.  a bunch of the little guys sharing members, and ganging up on the big sites.

Forget about doing it with D6  - it is complicated enough as is. Though provoking question though.

It would be interesting, especially for those who serve multiple niche communities with different web sites for each. However, as Caltrade said.
