struggling with flash apps

I keep getting an error when trying to download flash apps. It says permission must be 666 for specific file. It is currently 777. I am not finding the files to edit. Can anyone give me some pointers?

FrownI am having the exact same problem and the migration is staying in queud for four days now.  There doesn't seem to be be any answers on this forum about this problem and the one I did find didn't really explain it very well.  Not everyone is a computer program or linguistics professional.  Some of us are trying to learn and it would be nice if people, who are much more computer literate and aware of these programs, would answer in a professional manner and not treat the questioner like a complete moron.  I have had a few nice people on here try to help me sort v6 out but I've not had any answers to the questions and most newbies are getting their heads bitten off by the Premium members who have thousands of posts under their belt.  Imagine what the world would be like if all the teachers in the world called you a moron everytime you asked a question, you'd quit asking questions.  In my mind and my business I keep this little phrase in mind when dealing with anyone....There are no stupid questions, just stupid people who don't ask questions.  I hope to see some sort of professional response to this question.  Also if this forum is meant to ask questions why are the more experienced members treating those of us who are new and inexperienced  like we are idiots when we ask a question?  I search the internet before I come to this site for fear of having my head ripped off for asking a question.

@OP: Hold on, are you trying to install the Flash applications from the Flash Apps panel? If so, you need to do this from the Modules page, as each one needs to be installed individually in that method.

If you are indeed trying to install them via the Flash Apps page, then you must navigate to Administration > Tools > Modules and install these applications like you would any other module. As for your comment on the support provided, we are users. We do not even have to support other people, and we do what we can. 4/5 times when a topic goes unanswered, it's not because we do not want to help, it's because we do not know the answer.

I didn't mean to offend. My point was we are all people and it is human nature. As long as humans have egos and our own perception of things no matter what that is. It is not just here it is in all areas of life!

Magnusson:  While I appreciate your comments I still make a valid point.  Not all of us are computer wizards and some of us need to ask questions.  While I understand this is member driven, like my forum, I don't allow comments on my board which might be taken as being rude.  All my members are respectful of one another as they are in the real world.  Yes I've gone through the Administration panel - Flash Apps - Permissions are not right like tttiger says in the initial post.  If you have any useful info you'd like to share with us that would be greatly appreciated.

tttiger:  I don't understand this stuff.  I followed the directions to a T.  The migration doesn't work either.  Still in queu after 4 days.  I've read something about cron jobs but when I tried to follow the instructions they didn't take me anywhere either except a 403 error page.  I have my old community up and I'd like to add the new one sometime soon.  Thanks for being brave enough to ask the question for people like me who are new to this too. xxx

Hi, I have had problems with flash apps too.

I found that the folders in the modules/boonex/ folder had the wrong permissions. This would seem to be a default install problem.

I changed the relevant top level folder permission to 777 (under the boonex folder) and the files to 666. ffmpeg needs to be 777.

now things seem to be working.

All the best!

Ps. the guys on this site will gladly help, you just need to understand there humour.. and frustration when a lot of people (not just newbies) refuse to do a search on Unity to see if this problem has already been answered.

Not that I'm any good with Dolphin, but as Stuart says, you need to change the required folder permissions.

Use your FTP programme or cpanel to locate the files and chmod the required file permissions to 666.

You will find them in your default Dolphin folder .../flash/modules/ [board, chat etc] /xml/...

Hope this helps,
