uploads not showing in admin settings

Hi all, I am trying to upload mods and templates and everything on the site seems to be working correctly. The only problem is that I cant seem to add anything to it. I have tried to upload the affiliate mod and have done this before on a previous instalation with no problem. Cant get it to show in the uninstalled mods in the tools/mods section. Then I tried to upload a template and I am having the same problem. I uploded it. I know it is uploaded correctly and in the right file and everything. but it is not showing up in the settings/templates template selection.

Can this be a file permission problem?

could be that or your uploading it with the root user or a different user other then the one for that account.   Are you uploading them in .zip format or are you uploading them as files via ftp ?

Thanks for the reply. I have tried to upload them via ftp and just uploading the file and by cpanel uploading the zip and then unziping them in the folder. As well as uploading them through the site.

I also should mention that I just deleted the old site and started over again. In the directory I can see files that I had in the original directory before I deleted it but haven't uploaded yet to the new directory. I checked with Arvixe my host and they said that this is normal and no reason for concern. Everything checked out from their end and that it had to be something with the script.

Do this test, upload a basic html file in any of those module folders or template folders, and try to open that file with a browser and see if you can open it, example: yoursite.com/modules/vendor/affiliates/test.html

Wow, this is getting weird. I just tried it again after posting and deleted the template that I tried to upload earlier and reuploaded. It worked. Was able to change templates in the settings/templates. Then I went to see if I needed to do it for the forum since it was already in there from before. Couldn't get into forum. Then I figured out that I cant get into anything. It says profile not available for view on every item on the menu. I haven't done a thing to the site. It was working the last time I checked it like yesterday.

Then I was going to go to the hosting company and see what they have to say. I noticed I had an email from them.

Throughout the past several weeks, the server one of your accounts resides on (Otter) has been under a Denial of Service attack. Throughout this time, our attack mitigation systems have been able to fully mitigate the attack and make sure that your sites are fully responding to all customer requests. Earlier today, the attacks picked up intesnsity and our networking team has been working diligently to mitigate this increase in intensity as well. Please note that that during this time, you may experience delays retrieving your website. However, for mail, FTP, control panel, etc. you should be able to use the hostname 'otter.arvixe.com' without issues as the main IP of the server is not affected by the attack (only users on the shared IP without a dedicated IP address).

Do you think they might have something to do with this? I really dont want to delete the site and start over again but I'm thinking I might need to and do a manual install instead of the Softaculous automatic install.
