video comment - 7.0.1

um... the video comment worked great in 7.0 but i can't get it to work in 7.0.1.  after i post a video comment, it keeps saying "Video is being processed".  You guys have the same issue?  :/

Cron is set up correctly, ffmpeg.exe is set to 777, video_comment file is set to 777.  what else?

EDIT:  I tested on boonex.us and it doesn't work there.  I think this is a bug.  oh lordy lord!  :S

Have you tried turning it off and on aga- Have you received any emails from the cron daemon?

Edit: A bug? My word, this is horrible! Quick, call Betsy, she'll know what to do!

Anyone notice the NEW H264 codec option in the Flash Apps video settings?  Says it requires an extra ffmpeg install.  Have posted on this issue before and still haven't seen a definitive answer.  The performance and quality of the video recorder is HORRIBLE.  Waiting to hear from Boonex.  Since this is new I would expect some explanation on how to get such an ffmpeg upgrade.

Someday, Someway.

To get a new ffmpeg upgrade you'll need to contact your host... the H264 option is supposed to stream alot better.  Open a ticket with your host and ask about ffmpeg, they can surely help you.

So, your video comment works in 7.0.1?

Hello,

I was running D7.0.0 and the "Record a video comment" feature never worked on my site, kept getting the message "error processing file". I tested the feature on boonex.us and it displayed the same message " error processing file". Not sure if  it was  a problem on  my end or a bug in the software.

Couldn't find much in the forums to fix the problem, so  i emailed Boonex and waiting.  After having waited so long D7.0.1 was released. With high hopes i upgraded from D7.0.0 to D7.0.1 hoping it would fix the problem but it wasn't to be.

Got tired of waiting for a fix, I hired someone to fix the problem. $50 later its fixed but I have a feeling this feature is very unstable for mass use.

Yes my video commenting works. I haven't implemented the H264 or new ffmpeg install yet though. My video seems to work pretty good 75 percent of the times. somtimes  it skips or looks like an old chinese ninja movie where the lips don't match up with the sound.   I can't say how stable it is on a mass user attempt BUT.. i've used the videolization mod for video blogging.

Forgive me.. The message didn't say "Video is being processed".  i meant "Error! File not found."  I checked the video_comments file folder and i see my most recent video in there.  :/  The video added to the file folder just fine so the corn job is def correct.  ffmpeg.exe and the file folder are set to 777.  I'm trying to understand why i'm getting this error messsage. Any advice?  :/

I would double check the file permissions for sure. I had  this issue when I first started setting up my site. I had the folders set to 777 OR ATLEAST I THOUGHT I did. I would double check or get your host to check this for you just to make sure.

Quote · 6 May 2010

yep, i double checked and it's still 777.  I checked everything.. I copied my old 7.0 video_comments folder and pasted it back into my current folder.. changed the permissions etc etc and it's working good.  Hmm I'm not sure how you get it to work in 7.0.1.  *scratching my head*  I think i need to uninstall video comments feature completely (including phpMyAdmin) and then install 7.0.1 video comments.  How can i uninstall video comments in flash.. i only see "enable" "disable".  :/

Patrick - you are saying this doesn't work on Boonex.us.  Do they do any testing at all anymore before they release new version?

What I am about to suggest may sound bizarre but try setting your files directory to 755. Some servers see files permissions such as 777 as loose permissions and won't let anything through.

Having read this forum I checked my installation: I cannot get past the flash 'allow' video widget. This worked with no problems in D7 and the video/sound works ok with skype and hotmail. I also checked it in 'Chat', same problem! Any ideas?

I was actually going to suggest 755 as well. Pro is right.. you might wanna check that.

I checked permissions re 755 and 777. Makes no difference, still does not work (worked ok in D7.0)

Same here.  ive checked this on 10 or more dolphin sites.  7.0 video comments work just fine.   all sites that are now 7.01 no longer work with video comments or recored video..

So i would have to say this is a bug some where along the way.

I also noticed that in the new rms server there is no longer ffmpeg in the root of the rms folder anymore.   its there in 3.5.1 and 3.5.2  but not 7.0  7.0rc ....

So i dont know if they tried to move the video comment render to the file server side or what..

Mine still seems to work fine other than being a bit choppy. I've had my host upgrade the FFMPEG version.. checked theH264 and nothing seems to work.

It would be great if dophin could give us some documentation on this so that the feature they ADDED can actually be fixed so it will work.

It sucks a player and takes forever to play sometimes three minutes on a one minute movie.......This is not a good idea as it makes appear the video player is broken and the quality is no better than the sideburnz mod......

I agree with mr sampson here. I tested it extensively and it really does suck. Making use of the H264 requires more server than most here use to host their sites. Just use SideBurnz recommended settings and uncheck the h264 box. You'll be way better off.
