hopefully this is an easier one to solve..

I am working on this site for my wife. she is a labor doula, helps women give birth, etc. the community is for doulas, etc But she wants to have people search the members and contact them to hire them for their services. I would like to edit the actions area to allow for non-members to contact the members. how can i edit the actions area. i have looked everywhere. this is prob a mod setting and nothing something that can be done out of the box, but i figured it was worth a shot posting it here. I also want to get rid of the subscribe button, as I dont like it to begin with.

brother hank, what you are asking for there then is for your site to be spammed sir. if you just let anybody contact your members, then i can assure you that spam will be served with those tatars.

now what is the difficulty in having sign-ups, and even then, it will not be a certainty that you wont have your members spammed? just a question, because there is a reason why this is not set as default. the other option on this sir would be to set a new membership level, and instead of having them register, that would be the default membership level. but again sir, this is not good for site security.

hopefully this is an easier one to solve..

Yeah I know. All of the other like search services show the info public, so i didnt want to put us at a competitive disadvantage. But I might be able to convince my wife to have everyone register, searchers and practitioners. The point is that i want them to contact the members so they can hire them for their services. that is why i wanted to keep that open. decisions, decisions.

one other solution to this type of approach, would be to create an email address for each of the service providers, since presumably they would be paying for the listings on your site anyhow. nurse1@yoursite.com, then setup a forward if they requested one to their regular box, then you can keep spam assasin tightened up, and possibly control some spam.

thats a hard one man, i will look at this and see if there is a solution. even if the membership costs $1.00/month spammers are not going to sign up and spend a buck if they are doing drivebys.
