weird curl error message

First I wanted to let you know at Boonex that I am interested in purchasing the prime, but unless I can get the application stable, not really confident in laying down $500 bucks. A little about my server I lease a Debian Linux server from Webmasters.com, and all the server specs are met. The CRON etc is all done through the cPanel I do not have command prompt access.

I got the system installed, but a weird error occurs. When a page initially loads I get:

Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when safe_mode is enabled or an open_basedir is set in /usr/local/4admin/apache/vhosts/woodturnerbook.com/httpdocs/inc/utils.inc.php on line 1046

The thing is, safe mode is off, and when I refresh the page, the error vanishes.

The system is also not pulling in the news, or if I put in the maps even though I have an API key it doesn't pull in that. I am working from the default template, I am not going to do any template customization until I get the functionality stable.

Also, when I activate the Forum, I get those same weird brackets that I have seen mentioned in your support forums, and the compile doesn't work, neither does the forum buttons in the manage forum page to add a new group etc. So I guess my question is, is that CURL error causing this?

Although I am not a PHP guru, I am moderately knowledgeable, I install and modify Zencart easily, but this is challenging. I have been in communication with my server host in regards to the CURL error and this is his response if that helps:

You're right, safe_mode is disabled.

There is an open_basedir restriction however, but any file within your absolute file space wouldn't be affected.  I'd check the recipient location of what cURL is doing and make sure that it isn't something like "/tmp" or "/var/tmp", etc.

So any advice would be appreciated. If I can become confident in this, believe me I am looking to purchase a Prime license for actually a couple of websites.

First off. If there is a open_basedir restriction in place then the server is NOT meeting the dolphin requirements as it is specified in the hosting requirements that it should be empty.

However, see this post.

Thanks for the link, but out of curiosity why would you have a server spec requirement that leaves the server possibly open to a include attack? I just did a quick google search and found that leaving the open_basedir open possibly allows an attack by including temporary files by a POST upload? Just curious...especially when in the past the software had a hacking problem:

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
