I have a problem. My site has been running 8 months and now I have a member on my site upload photos to the photo gallery and they dont show up yet they pull a photo from another profile and put in its place? This is wierd anyone have any ideas? I have searched and searched. There is probably somthing on here about this but I cant find it. I am running dolphin 6.1.4 Thanks |
Upgrade to 6.1.6, we are all tired of fixing 6.1.4 questions. Check your Database and see if it's placing the photos into the correct member ID Folder, you can do this by logging in as the member in question and watching what happens while you have the FTP & phpMyAdmin open. Chances are, member has done something buggy and that's causing the problem. |

Thanks for the info will check into this. I would love to upgrade to 6.1.6 but have bunch of mods and would take alot of work to update all. Wish it was as easy to just update the site and the mods would work ok. Thanks again Gary

Gary,
I decided to test out the theory of upgrading from 6.1.4 to 6.1.6 and what it would take to do it the fastest and your right, a straight upgrade would be a pain. However, I threw a fresh install of 6.1.6 into the domain name bffdomain.com (check it, the registration is 8 days old) and then starting adding all mods/upgrades that I have, purchased and created, and after 8 days it's ahead of most other sites out there as far as closing in on a completion date. I only have a couple hours a day for working on it with my day job and yet it's coming along faster than the building on 6.1.4 came along and it's only thrown 2 errors in total so far, both were easily fixable SQL errors. Now in contrast, 6.1.4 would throw errors for almost every upgrade I tried to give it as I built that.
In the end, the RMS and the site are working much better in 6.1.6 than it ever did in .4 version of Dolphin. I'd suggest opening a test domain and trying it out, you'll see how much better it is in .6 and how much quicker your site will come along.

Thanks so much for the input. I am nervious to try to switch it over. I have 625 members now and 30 new ones this week. I am getting 3600 page views a day on the site dont want to go back to square one. I have a few mods like the myspace mod, twitter posting mod black flash chat player and about 4 others. It would take me days to switch over and not sure how to set up another one using the same data base and domain name without stoping the one I have. There is a few errors I need to fix though like the rss feed for the forum, The bulk admin emailer, now the switching photo thing but members are still using it so dont want to trash it. Thanks so much for the input. What I need is a Christian script guru who wants to help me on this site. It is going places. Thanks again Gary

Gary, do as I suggested and set up your test domain in a subdomain folder. this will allow you to NOT interrupt your site and such. The only thing that will need a little work is importing the user database into 6.1.6 from 6.1.4 and that may take you down for a few hours, sorry but it will happen and is inevitable, but not the end of the world. Go ahead and try it out, you can install all your mods on your test domain and see how well it works for you. I am positive that a couple of the guys here will be happy to help you with the sql import when your ready for it. |

Thanks so much, Will give it a try. I already copied all the files and then updated the site to 6.1.6 and switched the file name to see how it worked and the site worked fine but the mods were gone. some of the mods I purchased dont have updates yet. Thanks Gary

Gary, I've been setting up a test site, because I have a ton of mods that I've bought and some of my own that I made to see how they would work. What I"ve found out, upgrading from 6.1.4 to 6.1.6 is that ALL of the mods have worked so far. Only 2 needed a small amount of tweaking, nothing major, and they worked better and smother than they ever did in .4. Go ahead and start putting them in. If you need help I'll be happy to give you a hand for free just to show you how easy it really is to upgrade this way. Mine has been up 9 days now and I've gotten over 50 mods on it so far and I'm going to keep going with it to see how much I can do.

Thanks so much for the info. So you think the first thing to do is start a new dolphin site. Then point it to the domain name right? Most of my mods I paid for install so dont know if I could install myself. I already made a copy of all my files on my site then upgraded the copy to 6.1.6 and the mods didnt work. Send me a email to gpneese@agapejesus.com would like to talk on the phone. Thanks again Gary
