42 days since his last post... Something we should know?

He was posting in the forums less than a week ago.  But because people are impatient:

THIS DAY IN DOLPHIN

The folks down under and near Georgia have been cutting to bits the current template and replacing it with a new one - for Dolphin 7!  Not much is known at this time what it will look like, but sources close to the DNN have claimed it will have a lot of HSV noise to give it that "modern" look.

In other news, several bugs involving languages and other random things were also fixed within the last week.

Edit: Feeling like everyone who works on this script is dead?  Have no fear, Trac is here!  Just look at the timeline and see what's been happening since last night.

BREAKING NEWS

We've received word from sources close to DNN that BoonEx has merged all the Market articles into one!  With us is Paul Potts, first-season winner of Britain's Got Talent and BoonEx expert.

DNN: Paul, what are we looking at here?

Paul: We're looking at the start of a much-needed overhaul of the Market and its policies.

DNN: Can you give us a run-down?

Paul: Sure, we have rules on how to submit products, what kind of information needs to be added, what the information needs to include, rules on licenses, demo sites, instructions, help documentation, and so much more.

DNN: Wow, this looks like something Dolphin users will like.

Paul: Indeed, and it will also clean up the market.  Developers will be given a grace period to update their products to meet the new policies.  Those who don't will have their products removed from sale.  One SuperModerator thinks the number of removed products will pass the 200-mark.

DNN: Incredible stuff, incredible stuff.  Thanks to Paul Potts for coming on-air.

Paul: Pleasure is mine.

A few things happening...

1. Dolphin 7 hasn't been given a "feature update" for a very long while. Instead it had 9 (!) service updates, focusing on stability. This is arguably a good thing, but it certainly not as exciting as a feature update.

2. BoonEx has revved up D8 development, yet there's still no installable alpha/beta version. We've opted for a very thorough base development, no quick hacks, which again is a good thing, but not as exciting as a semi-operational "live" version.

3. Moderation has tightened up lately, which is a good thing, too.

......

The first two are temporary things. Some "excitement" is coming really soon.

As Andrew is suggesting, next release is 7.1, not 7.0.9.1, etc.  Expect some better stuff like a new look and possible features.  Last code change was earlier today.

I happy for this the only problem is for who use a custom template.. will require several modifications to template to make sure is working fine after the changes will be made to the new basic template for dolphin 7.1 ...

It's possible.  Remember, BoonEx always has beta and RC releases, so developers have time to update their stuff.

i agree the problem will be for developers as gorpus that has to change more than 50 templates or for developers that i do not want mentioning names but that does not have much fame to update and correct their own modules... Even worse is for those who paid the developer to have a unique custom template... these users will have to pay the other developer to adapt the template to the new basic template on which they depend for more files ..

would be better on dolphin 7.1 to divide on two folder the new version of the basic template with the old so that those who do not has the possibility to have their template updated, is not modify these files ..

I am not being impatient I simply was looking at the Boonex News where his last post was 42 days ago.  I am indeed thilled to see the effort taken for the new realease...and we all are excited to see the new thoughts that will go into it any revision's and 8.0.
