Video Approval Problem

I'm not getting what I'm missing. I have three videos under the "pending" section of vids my module admin and all I have is the ability to check and "delete" them, why don't I have an "approve" button? Any advice greatly appreciated!

It's possible the cron job isn't processing the videos. Have you been receiving any emails from the cron daemon or have a cron job set up at all?

 If you want to moderate your media content.

The way I find around this bug..

Set your video, audio, and photo setting in Flash Apps to "Files Auto Approve" OFF

But wait, if I do that there is not an "Approve" button just the "Delete"

?!*%= How can I approve these media files?

Pick a certain day or time to approve them... go to your "Flash Apps" setting the "Files Auto Approve" to "ON"

navigate (i.e. http://yoursite.com/m/videos/administration/home/disapproved)to the "Videos", "Sounds", or "Photos" modules under Admin... find the "Disapproved" tab and your "Approve" button is available to you. After approving your media you will have to go back and reverse the Flash Apps settings you changed..

Hope you understand this, it works for me. Albeit very time consuming  for a busy site.

yes, there was some attempt at explaining this some time ago, but of course it made no sense at all. what you are seeing there is that they are not processed.

there could be a couple of reasons, but first lets dig through the muck

are other videos processing?

what size are these files that are hanging up?

what is the file extension of the files that are hanging up?

what is your max_filesize for upload set to?

what is your max_execution setting set to?

if as Nathan points out, that your cron is not firing, or that you have a malformed cron command on your crontab, then it cant process the files, and the end up stuck there in that state.

so lets presume you have an issue with your cron command

1. go to periodic directory, rename your .htaccess --> _.htaccess or whatever

2. open your browser and we are going to brute force the cron job to fire from the database, not relying on the cron command from your control panel

http://yoursite.com/periodic/cron.php

this will fire the file cron.php

now depending on your hosting access, if you have whm or ssh access, you should be able to visualize the /usr/bin/php running as a process on the server, this would at times, indicate that the cron job has fired, and it is processing your awaiting files.

now what i am unsure of is how long the shelf life is on a file that doesnt get processed in (nSeconds)

ok if that doesnt work, then its not a cron job problem, and we must explore other avenues such as mentioned above in regards to server settings and file extension.

 @newt

yeah do you recall the write up on this where they said that if a video does not process, then it goes into pending, it basically falls into a state of not processed. i will look for that write up. one thing you can do to verify that it was not processed is look in the directory

--> flash/modules/vidoes/files

and see if there are relative files of conversion in there.

as post from LeonIdS

Hello everybody!

Thnx for ur reports and tickets, i'll describe situation. We've solved to delete buttons approved from pending section in videos and sounds modules because in this cases system should convert this pending files first. And in previous versions were appearing some troubles by manual approval. So we've removed this button from pending section. Error was only in including to this process Files and Photos too - this modules don't convert files (everything is made during upload process), so it was fixed - button "Approve" was restored

(ticket 2223, 2225). But for Videos and Sounds situation will be left the same, so tickets 2224 and 2226 are closed as invalid.

Regards

@newt and all

as Posted from AlexT and the definition of the terms:

Pending - video files which are pending convertion, this video is not ready yes, the only action you can perform here is delete.

Disapproved - video files which are pending admin approval - so you can approve videos here, but not in "pending" tab

so as you can see here, this has been an ongoing discussion, which really goes nowhere.

at any rate, you are correct newt, in what he was stating, the verbiage on the tabs and buttons is incorrectly stated.

@DosDawg

Thanks for the clarification on that.

Using my way is the only way I can get video moderation, which I have to have on certain sites.

I have all videos set to auto approve "off"

every few days I check to see videos have been uploaded. If it has I turn on auto approve "on" and go back to the pending tab and "approve"

I have been doing this for some time on adult sites.

I do understand about the videos processing.

I am using boonex 7 registered license , I have some below issues.

will you please assist me in this case .

1 - Admin wants to hear user sound when its in pending / disapproved section. (Right now when user upload sound files its come in to disapproved section and when admin going to hear to so its show an error that file  is not approved , Without admin hearing sound how could allow to permit for website. every single part of sound admin will hear it and than approved it . so for hearing sound in disapproved section its very essential.

2 -  When user add video from his own PC its come in admin section as well as in user section admin can allow it permission easily but when admin and user going to play the video is its shown an error

Invalid video ID :http://www.youtube.com/watch

But on you tube embed video its player is working properly , will you please assist me in these cases.
