I have popped in to see whats changed? How stable is the current version? Is it still full of holes? Is it still hacked regularly? Is it spammed regularly?
does it run any Faster? Did they replace the crappy chat module with anything worthwhile?

Hi Nathan. What is the reference point for answering "What's changed", from when? I'm running 7.3 and compared to 7.2.1 there's a lot that's been fixed. Only a few issues with it which you can track in GitHub. Holes? no, not so far as I can tell. No idea, I run a cloud security company and don't read any reports of Dolphin hacks. No idea, as above. Speed of the site is relative to how you implement faster Web hosting. The flash chat, aka flash anything, I disabled immediately upon install. Boonex have started an integration with Chat+ (Rocket.Chat) which works but can be enhanced a bit more with branding. |
Loads has changed and you'll no doubt have fun with the upgrade if you have a stack of modules and custom code. You have been warned. Some things still aren't working as they should (category tag paths on blogs) but we're getting there. Modzzz has been a star (and very patient) and I have managed to get the emmetbytes Cover Module to work.

Hi Newt.... I had to bury the dance site... pulling users away from FB is like pulling teeth lol... 30k down the plug hole, but we did keep the code for our advanced custom modules.
I have been busy with a new business that is making very good money, and now i need to support it with some kind of community away from FB... So its back to square 1 again....
got to speak to Zarconia about a server soon, and then get going.... but i am also running 2 online stores / sites... so going to be mayhem. |
Good to see you back! Sorry to hear the dance site is on the shelf, was a good build. Still, what you gain on one project, can be used going forwards for others...
On the speed note, I bought someone to use D recently and suggest Zarconia for hosting (Im moving there shortly) - they went for a mid ranged dedicated and the real life speed difference compared to my dedicated with another host (and more expensive) is beyond comparison. Lightning fast loading using an active D site.
